Aratessvank

It stands near the village of Aisasi, in the Yegheghnadzor region. The monastery consists of a group of adjacent oriented churches compactly joined within a rectangular perimeter, from which only the gavit of the main church projects. The roof of this room, which has partly collapsed, rested on a remarkable main structure, still preserved, consisting of two parallel arches running east-west and a third, equivalent arch running north-south which seems to intersect the first two, but instead breaks off in its upper part, creating a square source of light at the zenith, surmounted by a small octagonal lantern.
