Ketcharis

Chapel of St. Haroutioun, built under Turkish rule (1220). It is a small single-nave building with a dome on a very slender drum, preceded by a portico that almost doubles the length of the church. Islamic influences appear in the stalactite decoration of the capitals; very unusual for Armenia is the entrance divided in two by a squat column. A similar solution, as is well known, is on the other hand typical of French Romanesque.
