Mastara'

Church dedicated to St. John (St. Hovhannes). A large square tetraconch space. In terms of size it is one of the largest domes in Armenian architecture although, as regards its interior space, this church seems very close to Byzantine architecture of the age of Justinian. The great shell of the dome is not, however, expressed on the outside, being enclosed in a massive polygonal drum hollowed out by corner niches.
