Talin

A three-aisled basilica with a large central dome, now collapsed, on a tall drum. Notable is the presence of an apsed transept with conches that are semicircular inside and polygonal outside. This scheme precedes the one typical of the churches of the monasteries of Athos. Also very significant are the wide blind arches on the outer walls of the apses and of the drum (a motif that will be found developed in the cathedral of Anì and in the church of the Redeemer at Sanahin). Finally, the marked polychromy of the wall facing should be stressed. The adjoining chapel of St. Mary is a small cruciform building contemporary with the main church, with a dome on corner squinches. The simplicity of the outer walls is offset by a sculptural dentil cornice.
