Kentia Palm
Description
This palm boasting large and elegant pinnate leaves, supported by long stiff stalks, is suitable, because of its imposing size, for spacious rooms.
Cultivation
Kentia palm needs good light but must be kept in a shadowy area, sheltered from air currents. It prefers high temperatures and during the summer it should be kept outdoors. The temperature must never drop below 10°. The soil must be constituted by universal earth mixed with 1/3 of sand. Draining of the pot must be done accurately since roots are damaged by water stagnation. During the vegetative period, do not supply too much water but water the plant often; it is also suggested to water the large leaves frequently. Kentia palm is anyhow a plant that tolerates dry periods. Manure approximately once a month.
Propagation
New plants are reproduced through seeds or division of tufts, but both methods are best left to experts.
