Labradorite

Labradorite, of the plagioclase series, is commonly found in compact or granular masses, more rarely it forms tabular crystals. It is often blue, grey and green in colour, with evident iridescence and metallic reflections. it is hard, light and gives a white powder, in powder form it is soluble in acids.

This mineral is a mixture of albite and anorthite and forms within igneous and metamorphic rocks, of intermediate and basic composition.

Thanks to its splendid crystals, once worked it is much sought after for making ornamental objects and goldsmiths' work.
