Pectolite

Pectolite forms tabular crystals with rounded edges and often occurs as compact aggregates of fibrous, acicular crystals. It is colourless, white, greyish, green or blue. In its aggregate formations pectolite is rather soft, while retaining a fair toughness. It releases water when heated with a flame in a closed container and sometimes shows fluorescence under ultraviolet radiation.

It forms within basic rocks, in cavities of basaltic lavas and in some cases within calcium-rich metamorphic rocks.

It has a purely gemmological use for making small statuettes, spheres, rings, pendants, ecc.
