Morlaiter Giovan Maria
Female figure
Of a family originally from the Val Pusteria, Morlaiter was the most brilliant interpreter of the Rococo vein of Venetian sculpture. He was the bearer of a highly graceful idiom comparable only to that of a Pittoni or a Francesco Guardi, a refined and subtle quality rippling in luminous movement. The form is imbued with light, and its surfaces become liquid and transparent.
