Vittoria Alessandro
Neptune
Close in date to the Baptist, this small bronze is an astonishing anticipation of motifs that would be typical of Bernini, in the effective dynamism of its contours, the commanding vividness of the narrative and the fluid mastery of space, skilfully engaged in every direction by the opposing divergence of the gestures and the violent twist of the god.
