Goro di Gregorio
Arrival of St. Cerbone in Rome
Rather than sculpture we might call it the most delicate enamel, or silk embroidery of minute and precious elegance. The setting is, for the artist, the starting point and pretext for refined linear arabesques and for a subtle lace with exquisitely pictorial iridescence. The figures themselves, in their yielding poses, seem to move to faint musical notes, of pastoral elegy.
