The Entry into the Ark

With the Bologna reliefs the parabola of this exceptional master is fully traced, who, because of his Gothic premises, appears to us an archaiser compared with the Florentine milieu of a Brunelleschi and a Donatello; but in him linearism arrived at such a synthetic monumentality, anticipating the times, that his heroic style found a following only well into the sixteenth century.
