Little Madonna with Two Angels

Giovanni, son of the sculptor Agostino, is known above all for continuing and decorating the bold project of the Duomo Nuovo; but the gentle little Madonna of San Bernardino is undoubtedly among the most beautiful works of Sienese Gothic, and among the most significant, for the light freshness of its invention, which has the flavour of certain domestic devotional images.
