Of the Sienese sculptor Gano di Fazio we have only the two monuments in the Collegiate Church of Casole d'Elsa, which perhaps do not completely define the personality of this great artist, who must have emulated Tino di Camaino not unworthily. The soft blended quality of the modelling, which Sienese sculptors probably derived from contemporary local painting, does not preclude a strong volumetric articulation in Gano's work.
