Tomb of Catherine of Austria
In 1324 Tino was called to Naples by the Angevin court as official architect and sculptor, and in the Campanian capital, assisted by a large band of local pupils who would later spread his manner throughout the South, he completed sumptuous tombs for princes and feudal lords. In the tomb of Catherine of Austria, apart from the strictly sculptural values, free rein was given to the refined taste for rhythmic spatial articulation and to the joyful elegance of the decorative motif, with its savour of aristocracy.
