Rosso Medardo
Ecce puer
A child peering into the world of grownups, surprised and dismayed. The sculptor had been supposed to execute the portrait of a child, but he could do nothing since the objectively immobile sitter did not interest him; until, by chance, he was able to catch the gesture, an effect that entered fluidly and spontaneously into his fantasy world. Then the work was born in one burst, frenetically.
