Mastroianni Umberto
The Winged Horseman
Mastroianni was able to take his point of departure from Boccioni's ideas and art, treating art as the transcription of emotion and memory. This emotional beginning, in dialectical opposition to nature and the spirit's memory, generates Mastroianni's controversial sculpture, with its broken volumes, dry and cutting rhythms, and plastic masses furrowed by twisted and discordant movements.
