Rhythmic Freedom
Cappello's dynamic-spatial problematic, despite superficial points of contact, has nothing in common with Futurist poetics; unlike Boccioni's procedure, founded on a dramatic recovery of sensation-memory, Cappello's intervention in the definition of space is entirely an intellectual act, an act of the will to know. Hence the choice of pure forms and of potentially indeterminate and amorphous geometric elements (the circle), which the sculptor bends to a structuring of dialectically interdependent “hollow” volumes that recover the plastic value (that is, the value as sculpture) of the image.
