Sassu Aligi
Pegasus
The Romantic root that informs all of Sassu's figurative activity is expressed even more evidently in his sculptures, both in the ceramics and in the airy, impetuous bronzes in which he tests the consistency of space with fragile and highly mobile sheets. The relationship between volume and cavity is not an illusionistic relationship serving light, as in Melli, but an autonomous expressive function, like a timbral rather than tonal application of colour in painting.
