An Hour of the Past
The genesis of the theme of interlocking, beyond vaguely Freudian literary digressions, should be sought in the architectonic requirement that had already conditioned the Monument to the Martyrs of Auschwitz. The dialectic of thrusts and attractions bends the hard stone to a bare and rigorous monumentality in which constructions of elemental power, primordial arrangements of the material, are foreshadowed.
