The sculptor scratches beneath the crust of conventional appearances in search of a deep authenticity that might, despite everything, redeem the squalor of a corrupt human condition. In his most recent works, where a certain corrosive inquisitorial taste has subsided, the modelling becomes more incisive and complex, and the line marking out the planes in a feverish twisting of volumes more trenchant.
