Verrocchio Andrea
Bartolomeo Colleoni
In contrast to the restrained intensity and calm, measured realism of Donatello's Gattamelata Verrocchio brings out the dynamic vigor and gesture and grim expression of his horseman. Feeling and movement strive and reinforce one another admirably, but in a highly rhetorical sense. Donatello's "integral realism" is replaced by a spectacular expressionism.
