Capital of the Demoniac
The creations of the school of Como, to which the relief probably belonged, are not uniform but now show a sense of melancholy as in this scene pervaded by painful fear, now frozen in dramatic solemnity. There is throughout a sense of singular interior complexity, carried to restlessness and astonishment. Everywhere the marble and stone are carved or almost attacked with a penetrating ability.
