Two Holy Apostles

The skilled workmanship of Campione entered Italy in the second half of the 12 th century and branched off in different directions giving way to a complexity of closely related works with clearly different characteristics. The sculptors of the iconostasis in the old cathedral in Milan proved in the execution of these saints a soft but rigid solemnity, a balance between the monumental and the pathetic.
