The Roman models, recycled by Antelami with particular diligence, especially in the typology of the faces, do not present themselves under the scholarly and tiresome type of academic imitation. In this way they found a new life, symbolising in the pure and proud lines, a newly found dignity of man, the severe serenity of the angel.
