Pluteus

A provincial and rather crude follower of the formulas prevailing in Umbria, presumably derived from northern Italy. Magister Ursus, who signs this work in 739, shows that he has also studied the late style of Ravenna, from which he had taken the symmetrical layout and smooth, flattened carving technique.
