Madonna

The Lombard Arnoldi, who is known for having carried on the decoration of Giotto's bell tower, with the series of the Sacraments, seems to favour structures of neo-Romanesque squareness, not, however, without a certain harshness. The simplification tending towards a geometric structuring of the image, reveals a reaction against excessive ornamentation and the decorative dissolution of volumes.
