Stories of Moses

For the last door of the Baptistery, commissioned from him in 1425 but completed only in 1452, Ghiberti abandoned the 14th-century scheme of twenty-eight panels in quatrefoil frames for just ten large rectangular panels in which he set Biblical stories (chosen on the advice of Leonardo Bruni), enclosed by a linear frame with statuettes of prophets and small decorative heads.
